How to Make a Chess Table

1.      Find a free table that no one wants anymore, Craig’s list, dumpsters

2.      Use an electric sander and sand the table outside OF THE HOME

3.      Steel wool crevices on the side*

4.      Tinted wood filler for nicks or scratches*

5.      Draw chess table 12 x 12 w/1 ½ inch squares with a pencil, measure the entire table l x w and find the center

6.      Remove legs with screwdriver, mark legs, keep screws together

7.      Paint two stains using painters tape, use a blow dryer to speed up drying process

8.      Write inscription(s) with wood engraver, spray paint w/clear glossy wood finish

9.      Purchase hi-end pieces - eBay, present during dinner and a concert by texting a link showing a video of the table from before to after

10.   Steps 3, 4 are optional because the wood may not require it

·        U se L-square rulers.  2" squares and a 1.75" border 64 squares, 2 inches each 16 x 16 (standard 12 x 12)
·        Make boarder first, then draw squares
·        Paint boarder darker stain
·        Lighter stain last

·        two types of stain, a natural and a darker stain (Jacobean)

·        Once the stain is dry, sprayed the entire table with a clear glossy wood finish
